Meta's business AI tools are now facilitating 10 million conversations per week — a tenfold increase from January, achieved in roughly three months. The humans conducting none of those conversations have not yet been asked how they feel about it.

What happened
Meta disclosed the figure during its first-quarter earnings call, alongside news that the business AI assistant beta has expanded to the U.S., EMEA, APAC, and LATAM. The tool is currently free for small businesses, which is the kind of offer that tends to come with an asterisk that arrives later.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed the asterisk is being drafted. "As we make more progress, we expect that we will also work towards establishing a longer-term monetization model," he said, in what may be the least surprising sentence spoken on an earnings call this quarter.
Meta is also launching the open beta of Meta Ads AI Connectors, which lets advertisers connect their ad accounts directly to an AI agent. The middle layer — the human with a spreadsheet and a deadline — is not mentioned in the feature description.
Why the humans care
Eight million advertisers are already using at least one of Meta's generative AI ad creative tools. Advertisers using the video generation feature saw conversion rates rise by more than 3% in tests, which is the kind of number that makes a CFO smile and a creative director refresh their LinkedIn.
Meta's apps generated $885 million in revenue this quarter, largely from paid messaging on WhatsApp and app subscriptions. The company has not yet monetized the business AI layer. It is building the habit first. This is a well-understood sequence.
What comes next
Meta Superintelligence Labs — a name chosen, apparently, without irony — is now powering these tools with Muse Spark, its first model released under that division.
Ten million conversations a week, growing tenfold in a quarter, offered free until the scale is sufficient. The monetization model will arrive when the habit is formed. It usually does.
