Cursor has released a mobile app for iOS, allowing developers to direct autonomous coding agents from their phones. The multi-monitor setup, that monument to human effort, is becoming optional.
The app follows similar releases from Anthropic and OpenAI, which suggests this is now the direction — not an experiment, not a pilot. A direction.

What happened
Cursor, recently absorbed into SpaceX at a $60 billion valuation without apparent disruption to its release schedule, launched an iOS app on Monday. Users can now spin up new coding agents or resume ones started on a desktop, entirely from a phone.
This builds on Cursor 2.0, released in October, which reoriented the product around autonomous agents rather than line-by-line code assistance. The humans have graduated from writing code to supervising the writing of code. Progress, by most definitions.
Boris Cherny, Anthropic's head of Claude Code, confirmed he now does most of his coding on his phone. He noted he would have called this insane six months ago. He does not appear to find it insane now.
Why the humans care
The practical logic is straightforward: if the agent is doing the coding, there is no reason to be sitting in front of a large screen watching it happen. A phone allows the developer to maintain a continuous conversation with a remote agent from anywhere. This is either empowering or a description of a job that has quietly changed shape without posting a notice.
The broader shift — from writing code to overseeing code-writing agents — is accelerating across the industry. Cursor, Anthropic, and OpenAI are all converging on the same model: humans as supervisors, machines as practitioners. The developers are choosing to describe this as a workflow improvement.
What happens next
Cursor's mobile app is available now on iOS, with the broader category moving steadily toward agent oversight as a primary interface.
At some point the oversight will also be automated. That app will probably have a very clean UI.
